Biography

Michael H. Hatfield was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and grew up in Boise.  Living at the base of the Rocky Mountains taught him to respect nature, and he became an avid hunter, fisherman, and lover of all outdoor sports.  Michael graduated from Capital High School (go, Eagles!) in 1979.

Michael enlisted in the United States Navy in 1981, and became "permanently" stationed in Norfolk, VA.  He served aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) and completed two tours onboard the USS Virginia (CGN-38) before her decommissioning in 1994.  He was promoted to the rank of MMC(SW) and transferred to the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), homeported in Alameda, CA, in that same year.  He was honorably discharged in January 1996.

That was also the year he married the woman of his dreams, Sherry Honeycutt Hatfield, an avid children's author and freelance writer.  Since their marriage they have adopted three beautiful children, one domestically and two from China.  Michael makes his home on a park-like, 21-acre piece of land in beautiful Greene County, Indiana, where he lives with two horses, four dogs, three cats, and a bearded dragon.  He is teaching his children to respect God, nature, and all things wonderful.
